100'S RALLY AT OKC CITY HALL IN A
STAND FOR JUSTICE AND EQUALITY

OKC LGBT’S STAND STRONG

November 15, 2008

Covered by reporters from all four major television news stations and several print journalists, a giant crowd, which peaked at around 300, shivered in the freezing wind while standing on the steps of OKC City Hall on November 15, 2008 demanding their equal rights.

The Oklahoma City group joined with over one million protesters in 300 American cities to decry the passage of Proposition 8 in California, which outlawed gay marriage, and to take a stand for their own civil rights.

The event was highly organized by Trey Dill with additional planners ensuring there would be legal assistance, LGBT law enforcement officers to act as liasons to the OKCPD, and medical personnel.  Car pooling from the strip was made available and area media was galvanized. The solid preparation led to the protest going off without a hitch.

According to event organizers LGBTs and supporters came together in love, solidarity, and sacrifice with the determination that this was the first of many actions to come.
