OKLAHOMA COUNTY RAID NETS MILITARY ORDNANCE AND DRUGS

February 24, 2010 Warr Acres police along with members of the Oklahoma County Sheriff''s Department Bomb Squad have taken John Francis Wallace, age 46, into custody after a raid yesterday in the OKC suburb netted a miltary ordnance cache and a number of illegal drugs including ecstasy, methamphetamine, and psilocybin mushrooms. Federal agents with the BATF have been called in to identify and inventory the items removed by the bomb squad.

Authorities have declared the large ammunition supply, including WWII-era anti-aircraft shells, was enough to blow up an entire city block with just some of the larger shells and were extremely volatile.

The suspect has previously served time in prison for drug related convictions and was most recently convicted in 2005 of a DUI for which he received a suspended sentence in Oklahoma County. The home on Central Drive that Wallace stands accused of  selling drugs out of and stockpiling illegal ammunition belongs to his parents.

Wallace is now locked up in the Oklahoma County Jail with a bond set at $65,000 for the drug related charges. A higher bond may occur after an anticipated federal investigation to see what, if any, weapons charges may be filed against the accused. Being a convicted felon, it would be illegal for Wallace to have any type of firearm or ammunition in his possession, much less military ordnance.

Latest Development: As this investigation has expanded, Wallace's previous bail has been retracted and he is being denied bond for the time being. We will report on new developments in this breaking story as they occur.
