Patriot Pastor & Kern Ally Ejected From Kids’ Game,

Under Investigation

October 27, 2009

Paul Blair, pastor of the Fairview Baptist Church in Edmond, was ejected from a Christian Heritage Academy football game against Wellston High School Friday night after making inappropriate comments to an underage player.

Blair, who serves as assistant coach for the CHA team, was removed from the field for saying something to a Wellston player and no one, including either team’s head coach, is saying what it was said that was severe enough to have the grown man, who stood proudly by Rep. Sally Kern’s side during the Proclamation for Morality signing at the Oklahoma State Capitol, removed and officials with the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association to begin an investigation.

CHA Head Coach John Merrell told a reporter with the Oklahoman that he didn’t know what was said, but that Blair behaved very contrite after the game.

Earlier last week Blair suffered a personal set back after the United States Senate passed the Matthew Shepard Act and sent it to President Barack Obama for signature. Blair had spent several months of this year attempting to organize Oklahoma churches through a group he founded called Reclaiming Oklahoma for Christ to fight against what he called the “Pedophiles Protection Act”. Since the passage of the inclusive hate crimes legislation, Blair has been unusually quiet about it.

Blair is a former professional football player, who played for the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings. He retired due to worn out knees.

The Christian Heritage Academy is located in Del City, but maintains a satellite campus at Blair’s church in Edmond. Their sports team is called the Crusaders.
